Dolphin Queen Similans liveaboard is one of the cheapest Similan liveaboards in Thailand. Dolphin Queen is a budget Thailand liveaboard which offers excellent value for money. Although considered an economy Similans liveaboard, Dolphin Queen is surprisingly large and spacious. The main deck on Dolphin Queen has two double bed cabins, one twin share bunk bed cabin, and three quad shard (Four person) cabins, with each bed fitted with a personal curtain for a little privacy.
The Dolphin Queen liveaboard has a further two double bed cabins on her upper deck. All cabins use shared bathrooms, all have air-conditioning, and all have 220v electrical sockets, so guests can charge their gadgets. The covered outside dining area is large enough to accommodate all guests even when the boat is full and there is also a sun deck where guests can relax in between dives.
Dolphin Queen Thailand liveaboard offers a four-day and four night trip to Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and the famous Richelieu Rock, where Whalesharks can sometimes be spotted cruising up and down the reef, and a five day and six night Myanmar liveaboard which includes diving at the Mergui Archipelago, and Black Rock. The catering on Dolphin Queen Similans liveaboard is a mixture of both Western and Thai food, and special diets can be catered for with advanced warning.
There is a TV and DVD player, as well as a sound system, where guests can watch a movie or two, or listen to some music. There is also a library of marine books to help divers identify critters from their dives. Fins, masks, and wetsuits are available to use at no cost, while both BCD’s and regulators are available at 250 THB per item per day. Dolphin Queen departs and returns from the pier just a few minutes from Khak which about ninety minutes north of Phuket. Transfers are not included so guests will need to make their own arrangements to meet at the dive centre in Khao Lak. A taxi from Patong in Phuket will cost around 2,500 THB, or there are several buses from about 120 THB. It should also be mentioned that groups are kept small with a maximum of four guests for every experienced dive guide.
MV Dolphin Queen offers a tried and tested 4 day / 4 night itinerary, which is perfect to see the best of the Similans, and dive at Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and the famous Richelieu Rock.
Departure Day: Guests need to be at the dive centre in Khao Lak no later than 3:00pm to complete paperwork and pay their balance and Similans Marine Park fees, Guests will board the Dolphin Queen liveaboard at around 4:30pm and will have time to assemble their dive equipment, receive a comprehensive boat briefing and eat some dinner. The boat departs for the Similan Islands at around 6:30pm and cruises overnight while the guests relax onboard and get some sleep to prepare for the great diving ahead.
Day 1: Wake up calls we are early at around 6:30am and guests can eat a light breakfast before the first dive at 7:30am. There will be three dives and one night dive in the Similan Islands. Guests are welcome to visit the islands between dives or use the kayaks for some fun.
Day 2: Another four dives in the Similan Islands
Day 3: Four dives at Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock.
Day 4: Two dives at Koh Tachai and Koh Bon, before heading east back to Khao Lak where guests disembark at around 1:30pm. Guests need to organise their own transfers back to their hotels in Phuket or Khao Lak. Dolphin Queen staff can help them organise taxis or buses.

Dolphin Queen Myanmar Liveaboard – Mergui Archipelago & Black Rock – 5 days & 6 nights – 18 Dives
Departure Day: Guests need to make their own arrangements to meet at the dive centre in Khao Lak Dive centre before 11:00am and will check equipment sizes are correct and clear Thai immigration before departing at around 1:00pm by air-con minivan for Kura Buri Pier to board the MV Dolphin Queen liveaboard at around 2:30pm. Guests are introduced to the Thai crew and foreign dive guides, and other guests, have boat briefings, and after the boat departs, the first dive, a wreck dive, Thai Battleship HTMS Phra Thong. Dinner and drinks, before departing for an overnight cruise to Myanmar
Day 1: 7:00am pass through Myanmar Immigration for the Burma entry stamp. 9:00am Departure for the Mergui Archipelago and have breakfast, and have lunch at around 11:00am. The first dive will be at 1:00pm, before diving at Western Rocky, also known as Shark Cave at 5:30pm. The last dive of the day will be a night dive.
Day 2: 7:00am, first dive at North Twin Plateau followed by breakfast. Dive at Three Islets, also again, known as Shark Cave. There’s time between dives to visit an uninhabited island, before another dive at Three Islets, then dinner at 6:00pm. The night dive will also be at Three Islets
Day 3: First dive at Black Rock for a possible encounter with Sharks, Barracudas and Manta Rays. The remaining dives will probably all be at Black Rock including a dusk dive.
Day 4: Four more dives in Burmese waters before visiting the Myanmar Andaman Beach Resort for cocktails ( Beach Party ).
Day 5: Two dives at Fan Forest Pinnacle, Western Rocky, or another dive site, and after lunch we visit Moken Sea Gypsy Village on an amazingly beautiful island. Around 1:00pm depart for Kaw Thaungfor the Myanmar Immigration exit stamp. 6:00pm Dolphin Queen makes a sun set departure for Kura Buri and an overnight cruise to Kura Buri Pier.
Day 6: Arrival Kura Buri Pier in Thailand, light breakfast, and disembark the Dolphin Queen live aboard at around 8:00am. Arrive at Thai Immigrationand and arrive back at the dive center in Khao Lak at around 11:00am. Guests need to make their own arrangements for onward travel.
